Teaching Artist Bio
Trudy Poux (they/them) is a theater and improv teaching artist who has worked with kids, teens, and adults. Their love of teaching has come from seeing the transformative power of art firsthand.
In 2026 they were the Lead Counselor at Barrington Stage Company’s KidsAct! and TeensAct! In early June they held a kids improv workshop for young people at the Performing Arts Center at Rhinebeck. This involved creating an original curriculum, directing kids, managing an assistant, and hosting a performance for the kids. Furthermore, they set to hosted a workshop in July with the Future Perfect Project.
The past few years they have had the pleasure of producing episodes of the podcast I'm Feeling Queer Today! This has involved traveling to cities across the country such as Columbus and Philadelphia and working with youth in school settings to create their own podcast episode showcasing their stories.
They started their teaching journey as a teaching assistant in kids film and theater programs through Youth Ensemble Theater. From childhood Trudy has believed in the importance of improv and theater to empower life, as this is how the arts served them. Holding these opportunities have reinforced the importance of fostering a creative environment for kids. Endowing young people with the confidence to be themselves is their ultimate goal and satisfaction through this work.
